On this Monday, April 17, 2023 broadcast, Kim Monson examines two critical threats to American liberty: the Biden administration’s unlawful forced energy transition through NEPA regulations, and Colorado’s newly signed extreme abortion bills that circumvent constitutional protections and ban abortion pill reversal treatments.
Kathleen Sgamma, President of Western Energy Alliance, joins Kim to discuss the Biden administration’s whole-of-government approach to force an energy transition through regulatory overreach. The Council on Environmental Quality has issued new guidance making it more difficult to build infrastructure in America, using the National Environmental Policy Act as a weapon to delay and stop energy projects for years.
Sgamma explains that NEPA was originally designed to inform decision-makers about environmental impacts, but has been weaponized by obstructionist groups to stop pipelines, drilling projects, and even wind and solar installations. The Biden administration has rolled back Trump-era reforms that would have streamlined approvals while maintaining environmental analysis. New tailpipe emission standards and gas stove regulations are designed to eliminate consumer choice and force Americans into electric vehicles and appliances, despite insufficient infrastructure and reliance on minerals imported from China.
Despite these challenges, Sgamma expresses optimism, noting that reality is forcing even the European Union to back off extreme green mandates, and the Supreme Court’s West Virginia v. EPA ruling provides a check on regulatory overreach.
“Humanity is so much better off with oil, natural gas, and coal because it provides us with 24-7 energy that runs our medical devices, enables us to have ICU units in hospitals.”

Brittany Vessely, Executive Director of the Colorado Catholic Conference, explains the devastating impact of three abortion bills signed by Governor Polis. Senate Bill 188 violates First Amendment rights of medical professionals and employers who object to providing abortion services, creating liability shields for out-of-state abortions while forcing private companies to cover these procedures in their insurance plans regardless of religious convictions.
Senate Bill 189 circumvents Colorado’s 15-year constitutional prohibition against public funding of abortion by requiring insurance providers to cover the full cost of abortions, including late-term procedures costing up to $30,000. The bill also removes parental notification requirements for minors seeking abortions. Most egregiously, Senate Bill 190 makes Colorado the first state in the country to ban abortion pill reversal treatment, a progesterone therapy that has saved babies’ lives for over 50 years.
Vessely reveals that Planned Parenthood, COBALT Fund, Color Latina, and New Era Colorado are the organizations funding and pushing these extreme measures, despite data showing 63% of Coloradans oppose unrestricted abortion. The Beckett Fund for Religious Liberty has already filed suit against SB 190 on behalf of Bella Health and Wellness.
“We know that data from 2020 shows that 63% of Coloradans do not want unrestricted abortion. And there’s a reason why they push these bills through without having the Colorado voice.”

Roger Mangan of the Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance Agency discusses identity theft protection, one of the fastest growing crimes in the country. According to the Federal Trade Commission, identity fraud victims spend over 300 million hours annually resolving identity fraud issues, with out-of-pocket costs often exceeding $1,200. Mangan explains that for just $25 per year, homeowners can add an endorsement to their State Farm policy providing $25,000 in coverage for identity restoration costs including lost wages and related expenses.
